I'm beginning to see the light.

I have been floundering with my blog since I decided to have a break from selling my potato jewellery

Why am I blogging if not to showcase my wares?  I have always enjoyed blogging, but now it seems to have no purpose.

I read two fabulous and inspiring blog posts, one from Tasha Chawner, and one from Catherine at Foxglove Lane.  They both set me in a spin, and got me thinking.

So when I woke up the next morning and looked out of the window,
a mist enveloped my world, but unlike most dull misty mornings,
this one was seared by sunlight.

I was drawn outside, away from the warmth of the fire
and the early morning coffee.
I woke the startled dog from his sleep in his cosy kennel
and closed the garden gate behind me.

The distant sun-glow beckoned me towards it, out across the hill paddock,
under the fence, to the trees beyond.  The dog was way ahead!

Magpies were warbling, kookaburras cackling,
rosellas reeling with delight in the morning air.

Like my mind, the spiky branches were a tangled mass
~  muddled, darting in all directions ~ a blur.

Suddenly in a flash, fingers of light were thrusting through the trees
in an ordered fashion ~ not chaotic, all over the place ~
but directed, purposeful and....yes, stunningly beautiful.

Everything seemed to fall into place.

It all became clear.  I could see above the mist.

I wandered back across the fields to home.
Back in our sunny kitchen my husband was making a cuppa.
"I've had a wonderful walk and taken loads of photos" I said
"and best of all, I've worked out why I'm blogging!"
"Because you love it" was his instant reply!

He knew all along, I just never asked.
Thank you too, Tasha and Catherine!

We need space sometimes to soak up what may be obvious to others.
A good walk always enables me to sort out my mind.  How about you?

  1. Oh Jane, I am so humbled to have set you spinning and thinking...
Truly beautiful photos. I too am a fan of a good mind-clearing walk - just not always in the freezing cold (not so much a fan of that!)
Look forward to more of your photography.
    Love,
    Tasha xo

  4. Well I'm thankful you took us along on that amazing walk by sharing these wonderful photos dear - they truly are magazine/book material, beautiful and thought provoking. No more floundering please, just keep shooting and sharing your lovely stories from a very special corner of this vast world - I love it all.

I'm in the midst of posting more beauty from the Russian Far East, another remote corner where Nature is awesome and many people never get to view it. Like you, I really love blogging, it's my creative outlet, and I enjoy sharing places people often are unaware of.

Your hubby hit the nail on the head, mine would have said the exact same thing!

Happy new week - enjoy each day.

  11. Thank you for the nice comment on my blog. Your pictures and words on a misty morning are stunning. I have read some of your earlier blogposts and I wondered what potato jewelry means, never heard of that before. It is something quite different and very pretty. Do you know my father had a farm too and we also grew potatoes, funny. I shall follow you.

  13. Hello Jane,

Your photo of the misty morning are amazing. I understand that you live in Australia, so far away from France, and yet we share the same love of nature and creativity.
I never learned before of a jewelry made with potatoes. How clever of you to have developed this kind of craft.
I thank you very much for your visit and for your comments.

    Merci beaucoup,

    Hélène

    1. Merci beaucoup aussi Hélène. It is lovely to share interests with people from all over the world isn't it? Glad you have enjoyed looking at my potato jewellery. It is a lot of fun, though life seems too be too busy for doing any more of it right now. Another grand child on the way is one reason!

  15. What beautiful photos of what must have been a wonderful walk. A blog is hard work and I'm sure that if it were merely a by-product of some other activity none of us could sustain it. You have to love it to do it and that's what makes it fun. GG
