  4. Beautiful images, Jane! I don't see fog like this for many years! I remember going to school in Rio, early morning during Winter, and we could not see the corner of our street from a distance. Today, rarely happens. Global warming, perhaps?
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi there Willow! Hopping over to check on you little dog and pony post right now! Been busy and haven't been browsing blogs at all recently, so I'm missing the connection. Black Cockatoos have been quiet recently, mainly I think, because the weather has be fine. Thanks for your lovely comments. Jane

  6. Oh yes this is serenity at its best, really stunning heavenly landscapes above the clouds. But we are deprived of this foggy atmospheres here, it only happens in cold climes. Thanks for them, as they are alien to me.

  7. Konichiwa Jane! Thanks for stopping by and teaching me some Japanese, haha!

I loved reading about your area, the Dorrigo Plateau - quite different from Lincolnshire I would imagine - but each has its own special beauty and Nature has obviously been generous to both. In Nov. 2011 I was in the rainforest in Queensland on the NSW border in Springbrook National Park when staying at the country home of friends from Brisbane. I'm thinking you may not be too far from there, am I correct? I was bowled over by the beauty of the countryside, the trees, huge ferns, flowers, brilliant parrots and pademelons etc. I'd been on the MV Orion, sailing Auckland to Tasmania through the sub-Antarctic Islands - that was an amazing expedition voyage! I'm hoping so much to return to both NZ and Australia. I did visit The Kimberly, Broome to Darwin, also on the Orion, last Sept. and saw a very different Australia out there in the West - wonderful in its own way too of course, but so hot when we visited the Kakadu area.

I'm vegetarian and really love potatoes - you know how we ate tons of them in England growing up! Roast spuds, I can taste them now - my mum's were the best - and always on the Sunday dinner plate. I'm going to check back to see your recipes - may have to wait until back from this trip though, time is getting short. Have you been back home recently by chance? We were in Devon last Christmas for 10 days and it rained every single one!

Really nice to meet you and I'll try to keep in touch Jane - may not be possible whilst in the far reaches of Russia, plus Internet access is very expensive on ships, but will do my best.

Happy week - and if it's always that beautiful looking across the hills, please share more pics. These shots would make beautiful greeting/note cards!

Fondly, Mary (A Breath of Fresh Air)

    1. Oh how lovely to hear from you Mary and to listen to your tales. We are half way between Sydney and Brisbane so maybe a little south of where you are talking about. You sound as if you had a wonderful trip, and your next one will be amazing...can't wait to hear more. Thanks so much for dropping by Mary, see you again soon Jane

  9. Good morning Jane, I love your photography . . . you have an amazing talent for capturing light. Your photos bring your audience right into the moment.
I came to the computer this morning, coffee in hand . . . to see if I had any comments, and low and behold my dear friend Jane #50. I will never forget the day you followed, I was so excited. That was the day I felt that maybe I could actually do this thing called "blogging" :) Steve has some vacation days accumulated from work, so he decided to take a three day weekend. He's is outside sanding the side of the boat as I type. I spent Monday sanding the deck, so if everything goes as planned we'll start painted her tomorrow.
When I saw that you had visited . . . it made my day.
Here's wishing you a warm and wonderful day, filled with bountiful blessings and happiness.
    Connie :)
Here's what I want to share: You don't know this, but Steve and I talk about you, like you were a family member. Our dear sweet cousin from Australia.

    1. Dear sweet cousin Connie, what a really lovely thing to say! You brought a tear to my eye and have definitely made my day, no my week:))

I am so excited about your beautiful boat that you and Steve are bringing back to life. You do all the things that I would like to but don't! I so admire your feisty attitude softened with such gentleness. I've been a less frequent visitor recently, but I think with 'family' it is understood and the bond is always there.

I will share with you something that my blogging friends do not know ~ My Dad had three sisters and all four of them had a daughter within twelve months. I was born on the 14th June, and then two other cousins through the year & into the next & my other cousin was born on 12th June. Consequently 13th June is the only day when we are all the same age! We got together for our 50th & you never know we might manage it for our 60th too, even though we are half a world apart.

Cousins are very special and I feel honoured that you count me as one:)Jane.
