Interview in Images

I have been inspired by Kim Manley Ort to have a go at a Visual CV or interview,
 no words, just images.
I found this via two great blogs that I follow ~

Take a look at what they have done and if you feel like having a go too,
leave a link in the comments so we can pop over and see.

It was fun and enlightening, but quite taxing as I ended up with twenty photos
and found it hard to cull down to ten.
Anyway, here goes!.....

Who are you?

Why photography?

What is your trademark photographic style?

What truly inspires you?

Where do you go when you close your eyes?

Where is home for you?

How would you describe your lifestyle?

What makes a great shot?

How do you view the world?

What is an important lesson you've learned?

Phew!  That was a lot harder to do than I expected!
I keep on wanting to change them, but that's me, never can make a decision.

Don't forget, if you give it a go too, do leave a link in the comments below.

Bye for now,

  1. Absolutely mesmerizing. I am a big fan of your style. Each and every image seemed so thoughtfully chosen. Thank you for giving it a try and, of course, it's an evolving piece of work, as you are. :)

    1. Thank you Kim, it's a really great challenge to be involved in and I'm glad you got so many people thinking. You are right, it is indeed an evolving piece, so that makes me feel a little relieved. I'll probably have changed them all tomorrow!!

  2. I found this really difficult as well, Jane - decision making isn't my forte! You've got some great shots here, and my favourite is the image for 'what makes a great shot?' - the contrasting pinkish-red of the leaves really stands out against the blue background and I like the way the light creates a halo for the leaves. Also, lovely spider web in the last one with some great bokeh behind, and I love the upside-down house reflection in 'where is home for you?'

    1. Funny you mention the home one there Gilly, because I changed to that one about half an hour after I had published the post!
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. That is a cedrella tree in our garden and it gets lovely new pink growth in Spring. I have always been happy with that photo. Seems to have a Japanese feel to me somehow.
I might just pop over to yours and see if they are the same or if you've had a change of heart too!

  7. What an interesting response! I know just what you mean about tomorrow would probably mean another set of images... Like you I found the decision making process challenging. In my case I was probably thinking too hard (!) You've come up with some lovely, thought-provoking responses. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Loved your images so much. Each one had a very clear message....at least for me......you work so well with shadows, water and light. I thought I might give it a go but funnily enough.......nothing has really come to me yet.....well done Jane I loved it:~))

    1. I think we have quite a bit in common ( age being just one of them! ) so that is probably why you 'got it' Catherine. I can understand that if nothing has come to you yet, it's best to leave it for now. You really need to be in that frame of mind. Also don't forget you are so diligent with your blog posts etc and I don't think that leaves a lot of time to float in another direction. If you do though, I'll be really interested to see.

  9. Dear Jane, this is truly awesome, a most fascinating interview. I'm very impressed (and indeed believe it was hard!).
I'm sure I'll come and admire this precious post of yours often.

    1. Oh thank you so much Amelie! It's funny, I've been thinking about you because I haven't seen a new post from you recently, and then in the inbox appears this lovely comment. I was interested to see your reply to my comment about Elsa, and that she enjoys the violin and it was the photos that may be she was tired of !

  10. These are beautiful Jane. I love all the waves and ripples and webs... some of the images seem to play off each other and emphasise the patterns. How all things are connected. I love the last one in particular - it's a good lesson x

    1. Thank you so much Joanna, and for prompting me to have a go after looking at your wonderful photographic response. I hadn't thought in terms of the connections so much but now you mention it, I agree. I think patterns and design must be a big part of what I enjoy.

  13. Hi Jane. Thank you so much for sharing the link to your Visual CV with me. How I wish there was a follow up post(s) (from all of us who participated) that shares what each image we respectively chose signified. Your photos were spellbinding - I found myself wondering, "who IS she? I want to know more."

The photo you selected to answer 'What truly inspires you?' connected with me the most - delicate, surreal, gossamer/dreamlike, fantastic.

It's been a real pleasure meeting you ... Sally.

    1. Well thank you Sally, it's great to have met you too, and even though you say you want to know more, I do think that our respective photo choices say a lot about us. But I know what you mean.....it's good to delve further, and it looks to me as if you are quite good with words as well. Here for anyone reading this is a link to Sally's post. http://sallyg.me/10-questions-10-photographs-no-words/

  18. Absolutely stunning! There's something about this exercise that focuses essence... I was blown away by Joanna's interview, too. Still to come across Gilly's. Don't have enough of my photos uploaded to be able to do it, and even if I did, I'm such an anxious perfectionist/maximiser I'd probably have to log off for another six months just to choose them - my head would explode!
