Nine months gone

Nine long months since I posted on this blog.
I could have hatched a sweet baby in that time.
Well, maybe not!
But I do have a third grand child and a garden full of flowers.

The evening sun sets in my rather English garden
 amidst the Australian rain forest.

White-headed pigeon makes a "slow deep 'wooop-wuk', second part a soft gulp" sound.
It really does, because I hear it in the background as I hasten to catch images of penstemon, salvia, catnip and daisies as the sun goes down behind the hill after a hot summers day.

This pigeon  inhabits rain forest, scrub and gardens according to
Simpson and Day's Field Guide to the Birds of Australia.
It's right!
Can you hear it's soft sound beneath the whirr of bees and the cicada's chatter?

So can I !
Lovely to be back!

  2. Good Morning Jane, well it is morning here. I like to check my blog while I drink my morning coffee. Steve kept me up late watching TV, he hates to watch it alone . . . so we slept in late this morning. Your garden looks amazing. Your pretty flowers look so delicate and lovely. About the time you quit blogging we purchase an old fixer-upper house in the country. It has been a job, but we've made it home and we love it. I had my first real garden last year, with enough surplus vegetables that I could put boxes marked FREE out on the road. It was a great feeling watching cars stop and bag up my extra food :) The seed catalogs have started arriving in the mailbox and they have been my enjoyment, looking through them and planing next spring's planting. That may be why your photos struck a cord in my heart when I saw them . . . I long for warm earth and getting my hands dirty :)
Have a wonderful weekend and before I say good bye . . . I want you to know that you have been missed and that it is wonderful seeing you back on your warm and friendly blog.
    God bless you.
    Connie :)

    1. Well good morning to you too Connie, and so glad you dropped in with your cuppa! I am excited to catch up on your exploits and your garden sounds delicious....and very fruitful if you have enough over to give away. Brilliant! You obviously have green fingers as well as being a whizz in the craft department. Hope Spring rolls on for you, so that you can get out and planting really soon. Best wishes to you. Jane

  4. So glad to have you back - congrats on the arrival of a new grandchild!
Lovely flowers, they brighten the day - we are cold and damp here, however no snow yet this winter in the southeast US. Nothing bringing much color to the garden yet, but I do see bulbs poking through, lovely!

Happy New Year, Jane - if it's not too late for the greeting!

    1. Bulbs springing up are a wonderful sign aren't the Mary! Happy New Year to you too, definitely not too late, I'm still deciding what my resolutions will be. Maybe I won't bother this year!
